I am strongly opposed to Algoma Steel's request for an Environmental Compliance Approval <https://ero.ontario.ca/notice/019-9084&gt; (ECA) regarding emissions at its iron and steel manufacturing plant in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.
I expect that a government concerned about the health and wellbeing of humans, other animals, plants, water, air and the land will NOT approve this request.
Our community is already dealing with a river that is contaminated, air quality that is poor, and one of the highest cancer rates in the province. Rather than allowing industry to continue to exacerbate these issues, government MUST address these dire situations that have been hanging over our community for decades. A first step to rectify this government's shameful lack of action is to NOT approve Algoma's Steel's request.
