I strongly object to the order to proceed with the decommissioning of the White Pines Wind Project in my home County of Prince Edward.

The current projections from the IESO are that Ontario will be lacking generation capacity in the early 2020's and it takes forward thinking and planning to have generation facilities constructed. The 9 approved turbines and the 4 fully installed turbines would be able to make a contribution to that identified need. This Wind Farm would not be producing any air pollution or GHG's. This is an important attribute in this era of climate change where all large and small areas of the world need to do their part in reducing their climate impacts.

The destruction of this project would in itself need equipment consuming fuel and emitting GHG and the lack of generation from this site would result in more Natural gas being burned to supply the grid. Natural gas is the source of about 25% of our GHG emissions. Effective climate action requires that our grid system be decarbonized to the extent possible.

Furthermore, the destruction of the progress made at the fully approved site will be a large waste of public money while there are many needs in this Province. This contract breaking will also be a loss to the local economy and the landowners (of which I am not) who have been project cooperators from the beginning.

As a local in the County, I am painfully aware that the objectors to this project are a small but well financed, vocal and organized minority.
