Thank you for the opportunity to voice our concerns
- The drinking water of the people of Ontario should never be compromised for the sake of profit.
- The bottling of fresh water is not sustainable in the long run; sources of ground water are not infinite and the levels can be drawn down from excessive exploitation. In addition, we as a province should be trying to discourage single use plastic bottles - there is no need to tell you that the earth's oceans are awash with plastic.
- This is too important a basic need to allow private companies to be even involved in this enterprise; private companies are in business for profit and are not in the main too terribly concerned about environmental matters (unless it will hurt their bottom line).
- We need to change people's nonchalant attitude toward the purchase of bottled water; where drinking water is safe there is no need to purchase bottled water. Perhaps a robust education/communication strategy is needed to explain to Ontarians that alternatives to the purchase of bottled are available.
