As an Ontarian, I find this new regulation embarassing. I teach Environmental Science in our schools and this proposal goes against what science is observing - rapid environmental degradation due to our energy use and consumption. My partner and I are lower-middle income earners and we are still more than happy to support a government that funds renewable energy contracts. I don't need that money in my bank account; I need to Ontario government to show more leadership in mitigating climate change.
