My view is that the government needs a face saving way to walk this decision back and I have 3 points in that regard:
1. The recent IESO prediction that we will soon be short of generation capacity calls for the need for new generation being constructed.
2. The latest information on the climate change threats are evidence that new generation capacity needs to be low carbon sources.
Both of these news releases have appeared since the election so would be new information for the government.
3. Fiscal prudence means that Public spending should be productive rather than wasted. In this case it would be against government principles to spend millions to destroy a facility which could be producing salable power at no cost to the government.
As a local resident of Prince Edward County I strongly object to the potential destruction of this Green Energy facility.
