Our family frequently travels Ontario highways. We are concerned about the dramatic increase in the number of highway billboard signs as defined in the Corridor signing policy. These signs are not only distracting, they detract from the natural beauty of our countryside. Our license plates used to say "Ontario - Keep it beautiful" and it is sad that we have so many signs littering our highways.
We would like the MTO to immediately stop issuing permits for billboard signs and ensure that current sign permits are not renewed.
If the ministry not willing to discontinue the billboard sign policy, then the least it could do is severely restrict the number of these signs to perhaps no more than 1 in each direction for every 10 or more kilometers of highway.
