Dear MTO,
Safety is paramount to all Ontarians and to the MTO.
If we want to seriously address a leading casue of death and injury on Ontario Highways, we must do everything possible to make our roads safer. One death is too many. And we have far more than just one death.
Distractions on highways is dangerous for all users. Enabling more distractions is a terrible precedent. Advertising on roads exists to distract drivers. It's a terrible scenario. Drivers need to pay attention to the roads, but the more advertising we all, the worse off we all are.
Ontario has beautiful scenic landscapes, allowing advertising to ruin these landscapes is a crime against the very being of a Canadian. We pride ourselves on unspoiled nature. We should not destroy that idea with no benefit to us, and profits to the advertising giants.
Finally, digital billboards should be outlawed across the entire province. They kill. There is no excuse.
