In the end, if the market can justify such intensification as the MZO would allow, I don't actually take any huge issue with the level of density being discussed nor do I care about the proposed parking rate. We certainly need the housing.

What I take issue with is our desire to rezone key employment lands, something I have been opposing for many, many years across multiple Ontario municipalities.

Furthermore, I find the endorsement of this request to be painfully hypocritical. Stouffville has repeatedly demanded we destroy the Greenbelt to facilitate added employment and diversification of the tax base. Then, here we have a large parcel of core interior employment lands, and our Mayor is suddenly in full support of converting it to residential?

What do we really stand for?

I appreciate that the vast majority of people don't pay attention to these concerns, and I don't expect anyone to care about what I submit here now because that's the system we have put in place; however, it is unbelievably frustrating to witness this endless stream of politically influenced planning policy/decision making in this province. It's simply not how this should work.
