The provincial government is in complete denial about the need to get us off of fossil fuels as quickly as possible. It is clear that the government prefers to support a private enterprise, Enbridge, which has a monopoly in Ontario.
The Ontario Energy Board was completely rational in its decision to stop allowing Enbridge to put pipes under the ground in all new subdivisions and pass the cost on to its ratepayers.
The government should have a natural gas policy that prohibits new gas expansion, phase out to begin immediately. The network is big enough. Enbridge's profits are big enough.
New York state has banned the expansion of natural gas. Ontario should follow their lead.
The Ontario Energy Board should have its mandate restored so that they can properly protect the consumers instead of Enbridge.
