2024 was the hottest year on record. Every year after this is likely to be hotter. So we will one day look back on this as the best weather of the century. We need to urgently move away from the use of fossil fuels.
Your documents are biased in favour of natural gas; you emphasize its dependability and low cost and warn of economic harm if we cease using gas. You give no consideration to the harm caused by burning fossil fuels. You talk confidently about achieving net zero, but give no serious consideration here to how that might be done. The IESO report included with this consultation acknowledges that there are challenges in phasing out natural gas, it also notes that the rapid pace of technological change creates new possibilities. One small example is the battery energy storage systems that IESO is engaged with currently.
I am not an energy expert. I am a concerned citizen, who would like to see my government follow a responsible course of action. I see no evidence here that you are doing that.
