No, no and no! There was long discussion and good reasoning when my municipality rejected a natural gas plant expansion in December 2023. Councillors who at first might have supported it listened to expert speakers on all sides, and an eloquent sixteen year old, then changed their minds.
Natural gas is used in heating here thanks to government subsidies. In December 2023 the independent Ontario Energy Board said that these subsidies should end in order to support the transition to greener forms of energy.
The provincial government should not be using my taxes to to unfairly subsidize Enbridge. We have to move towards green energy sources, and quickly. The lives of my children and grandchildren depend on it.
