It is common knowledge that we, as the human inhabitants of this planet, are well down the path of a climate crisis that threatens our continued existence as a species, our ability to live well on this planet. Climate scientists around the world, as well as scientists in many other related fields, are essentially unanimous in declaring that this crisis is human-caused, and that a large driver of the crisis is the rapid increase in greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide and methane, caused by our profligate burning of fossil fuels.
Natural gas, as we all know, is a fossil fuel. So I am mystified as to why Ontario's current government is so eagerly promoting this further dependence on natural gas as a primary fuel source in this province. Do our elected officials suffer from such a lack of creative imagination that they cannot follow the example of other jurisdictions in the world and find ways to augment the sources of clean energy that already exist in Ontario? I am beyond frustrated with this, and in no way support it.
