I am writing to comment on the proposal for an interim combined sewer at 955 Lake Shore Blvd W (Ontario Place). I am strongly opposed to the proposal which goes against the decades of work done by the city of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers across the city to prevent raw sewage from being discharges into Lake Ontario. Isn't it bad enough that the Ontario Place forest was clearcut and the animals displaced from the land? Now the aquatic animals in Lake Ontario must suffer too? The decline in water quality that will be caused by the interim combined sewer will also harm people who use the Lake for recreation. The province has not held any public consultations specific to this combined sewer proposal.
This proposal to benefit private sector initiatives is definitely not in the public interest and threatens the already fragile stability of the Lake ecosystem. Heed the warning signs from climate disasters occurring at an ever increasing frequency and deny this permit.
