Re: Spotlight Development has proposed a project at the southeast corner of Lawrence and Black Creek.
I cannot believe that the City is even contemplating allowing this. Just by the fact that the company has not paid any of the required fees just goes to show you that they do not respect the process and have an entitlement attitude. There are hundreds of builders abandoning and filing for bankruptcy leaving purchasers with loss of their life savings and still with no affordable housing available. Are the apartment micro apartments/condos that are not really livable. How can we continue to allow builders build sub par apartments using sub par materials, always looking out for their own pockets.
This is an incredibly congested roads, always on the worst road lists. Adding more congestion that would come from these buildings would be worse for the community, which already have issues.
Why are they trying to circumvent the process? Are they trying to hide something? Over 5 years ago there was a bankrupt building site at the corner of Lawrence and Duckworth which was supposed to be mixed and the builder went bankrupt and the purchasers lost their deposits or were forced to pay an extraordinary amount over the original price.
This sounds like this has a very good potential to go the same route. Until a builder follows the rules and regulations without the shady moves they should not be granted anything. And fined if they do try to do shady things.
Community should have been properly informed so the correct studies can also be performed about the environment. We already have flooding issues.
