I do not agree with the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act. The processes associated with the Act are "complicated" or, using more balanced language, complex because ecosystems are complex. The destruction of sensitive habitats without due process is reckless, capitalist, and bound to further unnecessary environmental degradation, biodiversity decline, and climate change risk factors. Furthermore, what is the monetary cost of overhauling the Act? In service of who? How does overhauling the Act stand to benefit a majority of Ontarians? Are a majority of Ontarians interested and invested in development? I repeat that I do not agree with the proposed changes! Please let's think in decades and centuries not in 4-year terms.
