Dear Premier Ford:
This proposal is incredibly destructive to the natural species and habitats unique to Ontario, and must be abandoned. Ontario has more to gain in a future of true and effective conservation, built upon standards that already exist — not by scaling back the current ones in existence. Canadian tourism is on an upswing. Our conservation efforts are, and will continue to be integral to this. I reject this proposal and the harmful effects it would have on our environment, native species, and our first nations' and their way of life.
This proposal is counterintuitive to a progressive way forward. It simply stands on the wrong side of history if it were to be implemented. Premier Ford, do you really want this to be your legacy? Ontarians will not forget, and they will know exactly who to blame.
Please abandon this proposal. The Ontario government must protect the environment. The preservation of current protected areas is essential to protecting our fragile ecosystems. Our water and land must be protected to ensure the health of all Ontarians, present and future.
