The proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 by the Ontario Ford government are deeply concerning. Weakening this critical legislation puts vulnerable species and their habitats at even greater risk at a time when biodiversity loss is accelerating. Instead of rolling back protections, we should be strengthening our commitment to preserving Ontario’s natural heritage for future generations. The environment isn’t just a resource, it’s the foundation of our health, economy, and well-being. Prioritizing short-term development over long-term sustainability is not only irresponsible, it’s dangerous.
