This proposal is cloaked in efficiency but fundamentally is not grounded in protecting our natural heritage. It is much easier to destroy habitat than to ever recover it.
I am not opposed to finding ways of accomplishing studies and reviews more timely and more efficiently. But this legislation as proposed accomplishes that at the expense of protection. That is unacceptable and as such the proposal needs to be dropped or severely reworked.
The Province of Ontario needs to continue to grow to support its people, but that doesn’t need to be in opposition to living with nature. Nature provides its own economic and social goods, and as stewards for the future generations, we should work hard to protect and enhance it.
Please re-start and reframe this process with protection as the priority. Then I will support actions that improve efficiency of development decisions.
