I am firmly opposed to this legislation, which dismantles critical protections for endangered species and ecosystems, and ignores the interests and well-being of the people of Ontario. It reflects a serious failure in responsible leadership—disregarding urgent environmental issues, weakening science-based conservation, and removing transparency and public input from decisions that affect us all.
Protecting our natural environment isn’t a hindrance to progress—it’s essential to the health, safety, and long-term prosperity of our communities. Any legislation impacting our land, water, and biodiversity must be created through open, accountable processes that involve the people it affects. This bill does the exact opposite.
I urge the government to withdraw this legislation and commit to meaningful engagement with environmental experts, local communities, and the broader public. Defending Ontario’s wildlife and natural heritage is not optional—it’s a legal responsibility and a moral one.
