I understand the need for efficient approval processes to address the housing crisis in Ontario, but removing essentially all protections for Species at Risk in Ontario is not the way to do it. A more streamlined approval process is needed, but considerations about endangered species and their habitats should be considered BEFORE development in ALL development projects, not just a select remaining few. The ability for projects to start prior to considerations of Species at Risk being completed is dangerous, as these species play important roles in the ecosystem and can not easily be recovered later or somewhere else. This careless treatment of Ontario's natural environments would only be something future generations will regret on our behalf, not thank us for.
