I strongly oppose the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act and the creation of the Species Conservation Act. Weakening habitat protections, allowing political interference in species listing, and removing recovery planning will accelerate biodiversity loss. Healthy ecosystems are essential for clean water, air, and climate resilience — not just for wildlife, but for people too.
If these changes move forward, the damage to species and their habitats will be irreversible. Once biodiversity is lost, it cannot easily be restored — and any future recovery efforts would be extraordinarily costly, difficult, and in many cases, impossible. Please protect endangered species based on SCIENCE, not short-term development interests.
