I am against removing…

I am against removing anything to do with established environmental impact assessments, especially for endangered species.

This land has been known to be resource rich for some time, so I find it hard to believe that no surveying, prospecting, etc was done without the expectation of requiring environmental and species at risk evaluation as well.

I am in favour of mining and resource extraction, but not at the total expense of the environment.

Acquiring and developing resources should be done in a smart, environmentally forward-looking way where businesses are accountable - not taxpayers.

There are also a range of local and indigenous rights being affected, and understand that negotiations for several interests can end up going nowhere - but this is not a valid reason to force myopic short cut solutions.

This region, it's resources, and the issues are not new, and it is the responsibility for the government of Ontario to ensuring that the entirety of Ontario's natural resources - both extraction of minerals, and maintaining the integrity of our environment and ecosystems as an equal priority.

There is significantly more political and social will to expedite these projects, and now is not the time to exclusively cater to business interests - these resources will always be valuable and profitable and should not be gifted to the lowest bidder who will make every Ontarian pay for the extraction of their resources by compromising local environment and ecosystems.

Also, these resources belong to Ontario and there should be a public wealth fund. Private sector should never have access to Ontario's resources without every Ontarian getting a cut.
