Doug Ford’s government has repeatedly shown a blatant disregard for the protection of Ontario’s most vulnerable wildlife. By weakening the Endangered Species Act, Ford is putting short-term industrial gain ahead of long-term ecological survival. It is critical to pay attention to his backhanded agenda as it’s about the health of our forests, wetlands, and the ecosystems we all need to survive.
Developers have been destroying habitats critical to endangered species with less and less punishment. Instead of strengthening protections as our climate and biodiversity crises intensify, the Ford government has chosen to be selfish and side with powerful industry interests over science, sustainability, and future generations. This cannot stand. Even if you don’t care about plants and animals, there has to be a singular individual you know and love that you want to protect.
We can’t stay silent. We need to stand up for wild spaces and the species that call them home. Start protecting the environment, not pretending it’s not happening right in front of you.
