I oppose this proposed legislation. It would allow developers to kill endangered species or destroy their habitats without any consultation with Indigenous people or locals, simply by telling the government that they plan to do it by registering. It removes existing protections and will lead to expensive lawsuits as well as environmental destruction. Development and resource extraction is important for our economy, but so is a healthy environment with diverse ecosystems. Any developments need to be properly planned with environmental assessments. Please withdraw this proposal. Red tape may be streamlined but it exists for our own protection.
