"the government would have discretion to add extirpated, endangered, and threatened species to the list of protected species. The government would also have discretion to remove protected species from the list"
The government should not be granted discretion to modify thenprotected species list, as their discretion is likely to serve the governments' best interests over the interests of extirpated, endangered, and threatened species. The purpose of the current Act protects species first, and inherently slows down development projects to ensure environmental impacts are properly considered. Economic growth should always be in harmony with enviornmental safety, and the goverment is neither equipped or trusted to make those decisions.
Doug Ford is a self-serving leader who wants to make it easier for himself and his friends to develop and destroy protected land for profit.
