The proposal to removed the Endangered Species Act outlines how little the Ford government cares about wildlife and the environment. Its removal proves to be dangerous, putting vulnerable wildlife at greater risk. Rather than focusing on conservation efforts, along with science, it is creating an opportunity for more development. This development means that critical habitats will be destroyed, protections will be weakened, Indigenous rights will ignored, and an overall shift from protecting species in Ontario. At a time when biodiversity is declining globally, the Ontario government should focus on conservation and restoration efforts, instead of introducing harmful changes.
