I am a practicing ecologist who works solely for development clients. There are many things that could be done to create efficiencies and speed up approvals for development projects, while still maintaining protections for Species at Risk. Both things can be accomplished without risking further decline and damage to species. Our client's want to protect species, but need clear rules to follow. We owe this to future generations, as taught by our First Nations communities, who were also completely disregarded in these proposed changes. Why can't the Ford government work together with the experts to come up with a better plan. This sounds too much like the very complaints Doug Ford is making about our American neighbours. Let's do better in Canada! I implore you to work with people in the industry to move forward in a manner that accomplishes your goals while at the same time affording protections to species and habitats.
