Reading this proposal is very disheartening. I'm not sure what has changed since we were successful making a Environmental Assessment a requirement. I think blaming the 'US Tariffs' is absurd.
Our town of Dresden is 1 km from this proposed site. Let me repeat that again 1 (ONE) KILOMETER. We have a school 1.5 km from this proposed site. Molly's Creek is a few feet away from this site, which runs directly into the Sydenham River.

"The Sydenham River, known as the Jongquakamik in Nishnaabemwin (Ojibwe), is a biological treasure located in southwestern Ontario. It is the only major watershed that lies completely in the Canadian Carolinian Life Zone and it supports an incredible variety of life, also known as biodiversity. At least 80 species of fish and 34 species of freshwater mussels are found in the Sydenham, making it one of the most species-rich watersheds in all of Canada. More than 20 species of fish, mussels, and reptiles that live in and around the Sydenham River are listed nationally or provincially as Species at Risk and include species of global conservation concern." York 1 is using an old 'designation' and trying to bulldoze over a small Ontario town. I do not want this for many reasons. 1) The closeness mentioned above. 2) We are a rural community with many tractors around the area. Our roads cannot handle hundreds of trucks traveling across our municipalities. 3) Our location is nowhere near any major highways, therefore these trucks will be traveling on our small municipal roads, roads with kids getting on school buses, tractors traveling to our local cannery etc. 4) The pollution to our air. You cannot tell me we will not see any side affects from the crap that will be handled at this site. 5) Bill 197 (COVID-19 Economic Recovery Act, 2020) that proponents of new, large landfills must obtain written support (in the form of a council resolution) from the host municipality, as well as neighboring municipalities with residential areas within 3.5 kilometers of the proposed site.

Please do not let York 1 bury our small community 'Dresden' in trash!
