One of the main intents of the Environmental Bill of Rights is to give Ontarians an avenue to comment on legislation and the approvals for proposed projects. By removing the requirement to post to the EBR the Government is effectively removing the ability of the public to provide input into projects that directly impact their lives, livelihoods, residences, health and futures. There is no reason given as to why Ontarians should lose this Right nor can this author think of any reason more important than providing the democratic right to provide input to the Government's decisions. Removing this avenue of input is thus not only authoritarian it is undemocratic. I strongly urge the Government to change direction on this and continue to allow Ontarians our democratic right to provide input on decisions and approvals the Government is proposing.
