Proposal details
Through the proposed Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025, we are proposing amendments to the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act, 2023. The proposed legislation provides an exemption from Part II of the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993, which includes requirements for giving public notice and opportunities for comment, for proposals for provincial permits and approvals related to the Ontario Place redevelopment project, or that further the project (i.e., not at the site). Proposals for these permits and approvals would otherwise be required to be posted to the Environmental Registry of Ontario.
In addition, amendments to the Rebuilding Ontario Place Act, 2023 are proposed to provide regulation making authority under that Act related to the exemption.
