I vehemently oppose these changes! I cannot believe this is being considered. We have seen time and time again that the conservative provincial government does not care about nature or the people of Ontario. Its priority is very clearly satisfying developers. Getting rid of the Species Conservation Action Agency and the Species at Risk Program Advisory Committee is a huge mistake! We need environmental oversight that is not being controlled by the government.
All these policy changes are making it easier for the PCs to do what they want without consequence. I am hugely disappointed. I keep hearing that most tourism within Canada is because of nature, but soon we will have nothing left. No one will buy our oil and no one will want to come visit. What will we do then? And, to be clear, this is not some distant future, this is already starting to happen. We need to shift gears and prioritize environmental protection and supporting people in the many individual ways they need it. Our taxes are not meant to be feeding the wealthy, they should be feeding the mouths that can't feed themselves because of the issues past governments have caused.
