Hi
In my opinion, the Premier should not be watering down nor eliminating the Endangered Species Act. In fact, it should be strengthened and be enforced more diligently.
The public did not give the Premier a mandate to make this change. In fact the public has had several outcries over this government's continued attempt to downgrade, overrule without authority and effectively eliminate anything to do with greenspace, wildlife habitat, wetlands, natural heritage, agriculture and other similar topics.
Legislative Acts such as this one are in place for a reason. It includes the protection of the particular matter and an ability to prevent abuse. The Conservative government as continuously and repeatedly attempted to override such protections in favour of personal gain and this is not in the long-term best interest of the public to whom they serve.
It is also important to note that decisions should not be made based on urban outcries when the matter primarily affects rural environment.
