Species and habitat protection should always come before economic considerations, full stop. Ontario's natural habitats are already squeezed in by surrounding developments, and the Endangered Species Act has been repeatedly weakened by exemptions and amendments. "Streamlining" is the exact opposite of what we should be doing to processes meant to protect our natural heritage. Ontario's ecosystems and species have existed long before human development. It is blindingly short sighted to think we should replace them with human infrastructure intended to make a few short-term dollars. I strongly oppose these changes to the Endangered Species Act, and a government that would propose or approve these changes will never have my support.
