The government should not be allowed to remove protected species just to grant building and economic proposals. This proposal is a sly way to bypass environmental concerns for the right amount of money. Either protect endangered species or be honest about sacrificing them to make money. As well indigenous communities should be consulted BEFORE a proposal like this becomes public & not even mentioned unless they are supporting it fully. Either you have the support and are following guidelines of indigenous communities or you don't and won't be. The only reason to remove an endangered or threatened animal from the list should be that it's no longer threatened or endangered. The government and any politically affiliated person should have no ability to influence the status of endangered animals, as they will never be unbiased and stand to selfishly gain the most from destroying habitats. If the government IS granted the power described in this proposal, then the language of the proposal should be made much more clear. It is only fair when beloved wildlife disappears we know who exactly is to blame. These species share our home and are a essential part of Canadian culture, it is our duty now to protect current and future endangered species so we still have something left to hand over to the next generation of Canadians. This proposal aims to do the opposite, and if it goes through all we will be handing over to future generations will be that "it's such a shame we didn't do more."
