I believe that it has been observed in multiple countries that politics having the power to restrict or interfere with scientific matter, never end well. There will always be ulterior motives as to which species should be on the list or not. Giving the power to the government to remove species from a protection list or plan, gives them the opportunity to act in their own favour while there is confusion or debates on whether or not a species should have been removed or not.

Reading through the proposal the new definition of animal 'habitat' seem to completely disregard feeding grounds but solely focus on areas needed for breeding and rearing young. So obviously we can just take away the kind of areas needed for certain species to fourage and they will no longer be using a nearby area to nest, because they cannot find enough food to feed themselves in the area, let alone feed new young. Combine this with removed requirement for replacing habitat, and we can be guaranteed that endangered species will be facing a bigger decline rapidly!

This proposal reeks of developers screaming for easier access to develop green spaces close to the cities and water bodies and expand into the greenbelts.

I am sure there can be better ways to streamline permits and new projects that does not endanger already endangered species, because people want to travel 10-15 minutes less to get to work or groceries! Please try again!
