So, the government will get to choose which species to remove from the list based on what projects it wants to push forward, not on whether they're actually endangered. There will be no proper oversight committee independent from the government. As soon as someone fills in an ONLINE REGISTRATION form they can start work?? Seriously? The new act is redefining "habitat" as only where an animal dens and mates (what about food and water? Plants are more than their root systems!). The government will invest UP TO $20 million per year -technically $1 meets that requirement. Yeah...nothing will go wrong with this revised Species Conservation Act at all. Also, no government document should contain the words "new order", "registration regime" or "science-based". The first two are very Hitler-esque and the last one is just sloppy.
