I do not support the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act. There are better ways to allow development to support our housing needs than decimating the environment. These species are critical to our ecosystem, which is only going to face increased strain with increased adverse weather events as a result of higher global temperatures. We should be bolstering the ecosystem and its fragile species instead of weakening them.
I also dislike the message this sends to our Indigenous treaty partners that again, the government doesn’t care about them and their positions do not matter.
The Act should be left as is. Ontario is going to look a right fool if our ecosystems collapse just to line some developer’s pockets. Also, I will never consider voting for a government that pulls this kind of thing.
