This is a wildly irresponsible and shortsighted decision to make a quick profit. While I understand the desire to open up more land for development, doing so by encroaching upon our ever decreasing and important greenbelt and similar lands is not the correct path. The changes outlined here are often directly counter to widely accepted ecological sciences, and will result in the further loss of many of our precious endangered species.

It is naïve to think that the immediate area around a creature's "home" is all that it requires as territory. Our current environmental protections are written in the blood of many lost species, and should not be weakened just for the sake of making more money. There are many ways to boost the economy, and many ways to improve housing density and prices, but once we lose the things these rules protect, they are not coming back.

We have already lost far too many species to development and habitat loss. If anything, some of our protections are not strong enough to protect what we have left. We need to work with our environment, not against it. Ontario is a beautiful province, and I would like it to stay that way.
