I have significant concerns with the proposed changes to these acts. Protecting nesting/den habitat is virtually useless if there are not also protections for the land necessary to sustain life and meet a species survival needs, such as food. Species at risk such as the chimney swift are already facing significant population declines even with existing legislation. Cutting the few protections that exist at present will only worsen species decline.
