The very idea of repealing…

The very idea of repealing Ontario’s Endangered Species Act is deplorable. That this government would even entertain weakening protections for vulnerable species and ecosystems in the midst of a climate crisis is a moral and environmental failure of the highest order.

It is deeply shameful to prioritize short-term construction projects over the long-term survival of the land, the wildlife, and the communities that depend on healthy ecosystems. Strong environmental stewardship is not an obstacle to prosperity. It is the only path to a future worth living in.

Entertaining the destruction of the systems that sustain life itself reveals a profound disregard for scientific evidence, Indigenous knowledge, and basic ethical responsibility. It demonstrates a government willing to sacrifice what cannot be rebuilt once lost, for gains that will prove hollow as environmental collapse accelerates.

Ontario’s natural heritage is not a commodity. Our wetlands, forests, grasslands, and species are not bargaining chips for political expediency. They are sacred trusts that must be protected.

I demand that this reckless proposal be immediately withdrawn, and that Ontario reaffirm its commitment to protecting biodiversity, climate resilience, and future generations.
