I am opposed to the proposed changes.
Most of the species at risk in Ontario continue to decline due to habitat loss and fragmentation. I cannot see how these changes benefit species at risk which is the purpose of the Endangered Species Act.
Ontario's Endangered Species Act is a model for the rest of Canada.
Perhaps a better approach would be to identify areas in the province where few conflicts exist, and highlight areas such as rivers or the Niagara Escarpment where conflicts are so great that further development is limited. That would help reduce delays where a large proportion of time is spent trying to get approvals at sites where too many conflicts exist slowing down the overall system.
