I am very disappointed to hear that the government plans to fast track development at the expense of threatened species before adequate and in-depth studies and environmental assessments of habitats are performed, assessing if endangered species live or could possibly be living in that area. It’s not about the life one of one “grasshopper” but the complex relationship of the concerned species with the environment and other species that may be affected and the potential domino effect it may have in the environment . We cannot fast track assessments and Cause further stress to these organisms to the point of extinction. I believe increasing housing density in already developed areas is a more responsible way of using land. Furthermore developing greenbelts and agricultural land cannot be reversed when we realize it’s too late.
