The decision to gut the Endangered Species Act under the guise of promoting housing, development, and transportation is egregious and utterly unacceptable. It is a blatant betrayal of the natural heritage we are entrusted to protect and a shameful abandonment of our responsibility to future generations. Disregarding the survival of Ontario’s most vulnerable species for the sake of convenience and corporate interest is not progress — it is environmental vandalism.

Let’s be clear: this is not about creating affordable housing or improving infrastructure for the public good. This is about Premier Doug Ford prioritizing the financial interests of his well-connected friends — the developers and insiders who are conveniently the ones receiving building permits and gaining access to protected lands. It is a blatant abuse of power and a transparent effort to funnel public resources into private profits. This isn’t leadership — it’s self-serving corruption at the highest level.

The people of Ontario will not stand for it. We will not remain silent while vital protections are stripped away to pave roads and pad profits. This government does not have a mandate to sacrifice biodiversity for bulldozers. We demand that the Endangered Species Act be respected, enforced, and strengthened — not dismantled. Our ecosystems are not disposable, and we will fight for them.
