This plan is of great concern, as it seems that the government has only to claim that destroying the Greenbelt, habitats, conservation areas etc must be done to enable ‘economic growth’.
Getting rid of assessment processes, and the law against species harassment to give the government ‘flexibility’ is a free pass to destroy things quickly, without allowing time for Ontario voters to take action and register a complaint.
The actions of the current Ontario government vis a vis selling public property to a spurious European spa, and then starting work in the middle of the night, as well as closing The Science Centre…all without a lack of transparency or honesty is why I firmly oppose this bill. It would be an environmental disaster.
