This policy change is just going to allow developers and investors to start large projects, do irreversible damage, and not clean up after themselves. You’re reducing protections on many species that are already in a decline. Species like wolverine and Caribou are sensitive to any human disturbance, if you let people start projects before doing any sort of assessment on the land, you will have already ruined the habitat. The damage that can be done will be irreversible. Development in Ontario should be costly, and it should be done correctly under the right conditions.
