I live in London Ontario and getting my kids outside and in nature is important to our family - it keeps them active and healthy, gives them appreciation for the beauty of Ontario and the natural world, and works to counteract the 'screen culture' so many of our young people struggle with.
I want them to grow in an Ontario where natural spaces and beauty are protected and preserved. Where they can see with wonder, if they look careful, the amazing creatures and plants we share Ontario work. I'm particularly concerned that this legislation guts protections for endangered species. I don't want our kids to grow up and never have a chance to see amazing endangered creatures, like our native salamanders or birds of prey like barn owls, because we didn't protect them.
This legislation needs to be scrapped for something that balances our responsibility to steward Ontario for future generations and allows for responsible economic development.
