This proposal is a huge step backward in protecting our shared environment. Streamlining the approval process would be simpler if protected areas were permanently protected. Any proposal that would request development on protected lands would be automatically rejected. The developers would need to make sure any projects did not violate the rules prior to submission. There are many ways to promote economic growth without endangering the environment. Publishing a map of protected areas would help help developers as they assess any potential projects. Sale of land for development is the place to avoid any delays, rather than at the permit level.
