I am appalled that the province would turn back the clock on endangered species. I thought Ontario had come further than this. Housing is needed, so true. Affordable housing, specifically. And it is easy to place a dollar value on housing. But not so easy to place a dollar value on wildlife and habitat.

Without sufficient habitat, we will decimate so many endangered species. Without those species, we will be poorer humans and our humanity will be lost. Does the province not understand that humans are A PART of the ecosystem on earth, and not APART from that ecosystem? If we do not protect the entire habitat of those species, we will effectively sign a death warrant for them. The Jefferson salamander, the red sided dace, the boreal caribou, eastern wolf, the woodland vole, the salamander mussel...I could go on. What kind of vision does the province have? What kind of world do they wish to leave for our children to fix? Or actually, not fix, because it will be broken beyond repair.

We need to ensure that all life in this province, on this planet, is valued. Protecting endangered species is more than just saving a nest. It is protecting their homes, their habitat.

Listen to the scientists. And understand the value of the wild. Then protect that wildness.
