The proposed use of the Dresden York 1 site for waste disposal is tragic, it is situated next, less than 1km from residential homes and even worse runoff of fluids will impact the Sydenham River.
I am truly puzzled why the Province has ceased to consider the abandoned huge open pit mine in the Sudbury area. This alternative was talked about years ago but its use was never pursued. Garbage could even be moved by rail and giving the roads a much needed break.
Our community already hosts GTA garbage at the Ridge landfill, just how much must one community bear in the support of assisting the GTA with its garbage. Seems the only Green Belts that are sacred are those in the Toronto area. This decision if not changed will guarantee that the 2 MPP’s from our local ridings will never be re-elected.
