Fast-tracking projects is fundamentally harmful because it induces a shift in priority. It implies that the protections need to work FOR and IN FAVOR of the projects, when in fact is the project that must SUBMIT TO ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONS. Such protections inherently slow down the projects so they can be properly assesed and if necessary, rejected. Thats how it should be. It is unacceptable that projects need the bar to be lowered, irregardless of their purpose. We don't need weaker protections, we need better projects. Refrasing definitions only seeks to make unacceptable projects sound better, so more despicable loss of territory and wildlife is allowed while keeping the paperwork clean.
